Establishment of the 3rd University Laboratory of Nuclear Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and its installation at the General Hospital "Papageorgiou"

The 3rd Laboratory of Nuclear Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki was founded in 2004, while in 2005 it was decided to establish it in the Laboratory of Nuclear Medicine of the NHS of the General Hospital "Papageorgiou", where it operates as the 3rd University Laboratory of Nuclear Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

Election of the Director of the Laboratory
Associate Professor Nikolaos D. Karatzas was appointed as Director since the establishment of the 3rd Laboratory of Nuclear Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2004.

In 2006, with the consolidation of the laboratories, Mr. Karatzas Nikolaos was appointed as the physician in charge, replacing the former Director of the NHS Mr. Hatzopoulos Dimitrios.

The retirement of Mr. Karatzas in September 2013, lead Professor Georgios Arsos to take over his duties.

Recognition of the C' University Laboratory of Nuclear Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki as suitable for the granting of full residency.

The Ministry of Health and Social Solidarity recognized the C' Laboratory of Nuclear Medicine as suitable for the granting of full specialization by the decision no. Y7a/G.P/oik 84729/13-7-06 92905 published in the 31.7.2006. By the Government Gazette No. 1775/05-09-07TB' in accordance with the Ministerial Decisions No. Y4a/76387/07/24-08-2007 & Y4a/89909/05/24-08-2007 two (2) posts of Resident Doctors were approved.
