The Cytology Laboratory was established in June 2000.

The Laboratory offers important services in disease diagnosis and clinical assessment. The most direct offer of Cytology to the patient is the provision of specialized diagnostic solutions in both simple and difficult and problematic cases. This is achieved through microscopic disease definition, through cytological preparation and cytochemical and immunocytochemical methods.

Since its establishment, the Cytology Laboratory has been applying the method of liquid based, cytology.

The following tests are performed:

- Examination of vaginal, extracervical and endocervical secretions (Pap test)
- Cytological examination of breast secretions.
- Cytological examination of sputum, bronchial secretions (brushing, washing) .
- Urine cytology test.
- Cytological examination of fluid cavities ,such as ascitic, pleural and pericardial.
- Examination of synovial fluid and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).

Fine needle FNA punctures in:

α) Superficial organs such as: breast, thyroid gland, lymph nodes, salivary glands, soft tissues and in
b) Inner organs such as: lungs, liver, pancreas, kidneys, bones including the spine, under the guidance of the CT scanner
