Activities

The activities of the laboratory include the following:

    1. Laboratory:

* General Haematology tests

* Haemostasis tests and thrombophilia investigation - molecular methodology

* Identification of Haematological Diseases using flow cytometry methodology.

* Hb electrophoresis to investigate haemoglobinopathies.

     2. Blood Transfusion Department:

* Determination of Blood Type and Phenotype-Check for the presence of antibodies, Blood compatibility testing,

* Blood Crossings - Trasfusion of blood and its derivatives (blood and derivatives units which are available for transfusion are obtained from the AHEPA Hospital Blood Centre).

     3. Haemostasis Unit:

* With more than 15 years of experience, the Medical Staff of the lab has attended many families with haemostasis disorders. Weekly cycle of patients examined -100 people. Our Unit offers consulting for the hospitals of our city and the wider region of Macedonia.

* Investigation-Treatment-Follow-up of Patients with Thrombotic and Bleeding Disorders.

* Treatment of pregnant women with haemostasis problems, spontaneous abortions (one of the pioneering departments for the administration of anticoagulation to pregnant women with spontaneous abortions).
