Proteins in biological fluids

Proteins in biological fluids

The quantitative and qualitative test for the detection of proteins in biological fluids is carried out using various methods (Nephelometry - NEPH, Electrophoresis - SPE, Immunofixation electrophoresis - IFE) and is a daily routine process. In addition, the Laboratory carries out immunological tests of the cerebrospinal fluid to enable the diagnosis of severe neurological disorders. Apart from the quantitative measuring of immunoglobulins (IgG, IgA, IgM), this test also includes the detection of IgG oligoclonal bands using the method of isoelectric focusing (IEF) and immunoblotting) as well as that of other diagnostic markers. For these tests, the Laboratory receives and tests samples not only of the patients of our hospital, but also of patients of other hospitals of the city.
